Sunrisers Hyderabad Sets New IPL Record

In a thrilling match on May 25, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) showcased an impressive performance against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The team posted a staggering total of 278 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their 20 overs, marking the third-highest score in IPL history.


Heinrich Klaasen was the star of the show, scoring a remarkable century off just 37 balls, which is the fastest hundred recorded in this IPL season. SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first, with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head opening the innings.


The opening pair quickly took control, surpassing 50 runs within the fourth over. Abhishek Sharma contributed 32 runs off 16 balls, while Travis Head scored 38 runs off 16 balls before being dismissed by veteran spinner Sunil Narine.


SRH's power-play concluded with a score of 79 without losing any wickets. The team crossed the 100-run mark in the eighth over, with Head reaching his fifty in the same over. By the 11th over, SRH had already amassed over 150 runs.


Klaasen's explosive batting continued as he reached his fifty in just 17 balls, propelling SRH to 174 runs for 1 wicket after 12 overs. Head was eventually dismissed for 76 runs off 40 balls, which included six fours and six sixes.


After Head's departure, Ishan Kishan joined Klaasen, and together they formed a formidable partnership, bringing up their 50-run stand in just 21 balls. SRH crossed the 250-run milestone in the 18th over, with Klaasen hitting two sixes off Narine.


Sunil Narine was the standout bowler for KKR, taking 2 wickets for 42 runs, while Vaibhav Arora also claimed a wicket.


Final score: Sunrisers Hyderabad 278/3 in 20 overs (Heinrich Klaasen 105*, Travis Head 76; Sunil Narine 2/42).
